Meet up with your peers at the Hudson Valley Education District Annual Spring Lunch and Learn at Mill House Brewing Company for a delicious lunch and networking with local SRNAs and CRNAs. The educational lecture portion will be presented by four SRNAs from Albany Medical College's Nurse Anesthetist Program. 

Space is limited.

Registration Fee: $40 (CRNA/Member), $50 (CRNA/Non-Member), $30 (SNRA), and $40 (Retired). Registration is required.

"Shivering Prevalence with Intrathecal Dexmedetomidine in Parturients Undergoing Elective Cesarean Delivery "

1. Describe shivering pathophysiology and characteristics
2. Define shivering as it applies to the parturient receiving spinal anesthesia
3. Review the mechanism of action for dexmedetomidine
4. Investigate the incidence of shivering with intrathecal dexmedetomidine in the parturient undergoing an elective cesarean delivery 


Lauren Carlino 
"Pectoralis Nerve Block Combined with General Anesthesia to Decrease Post-Operative Pain in Patients Undergoing Breast Cancer Surgery"

1. Describe and the pectoralis nerve block types I and II: relevant anatomy, innervation, and technique.
2. Discuss the application of these blocks for post-operative pain management in patients undergoing breast cancer surgery.
3. Discuss the literature review and research regarding the efficacy of these blocks.

"Hereditary Angio-edema in the Perioperative Setting"

1. Investigate the evidence supporting short term prophylactic treatments of patients with a diagnosis of HAE coming in for surgical procedures.
2. Understand why an episode of Hereditary angioedema (HAE) may have a high mortality rate.
3. Discuss the time period when these episodes may occur peri/postoperative and the need of life saving treatments.

"Utilizing an Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Protocol in Primary Hip and Knee Arthroplasty"

1. Discuss the components of an ERAS protocol.
2. Examine whether an ERAS protocol can decrease hospital LOS after hip and knee arthroplasty.
3. Discuss the implications for anesthesia practice and future research.
