Speaker: Simon McDonald, Clinical Affairs Specialist (Fisher & Paykel Healthcare), Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Graduate Certificate in Critical Care Nursing.
His talk is meant to inform nurse anesthestists about the growing body of evidence supporting the use of Nasal High Flow Oxygen (HFNO) to optimize oxygenation during monitored anesthesia care and peri-intubation practice. Systematic reviews and meta-analysis demonstrate the use of NHFO can extend safe apnea time, reduce the need to perform airway maneuvers, and reduce procedural interruptions (during MAC). These attributes have significant implications for increased patient safety and work practice efficiency. CE is not available for this content as it is sponsored.
